Fellowship
Our Orthodox Fellowship
Every Tuesday 7.30pm in the Church Hall, commencing February 2012.
Our Church has been approached by a growing number of enquirers over the past
year, and it was clear that a new way of allowing people to discover Orthodoxy
was urgently needed. An Orthodox Fellowship is the answer to
that need. It is a dispersed community of friends, enquirers and members
of the Orthodox Church, who are united in their desire to discover
how the Orthodox Faith can help them develop and deepen
their Christian life.
Anyone with a genuine interest in Orthodoxy can join the Saint Nicholas’ Orthodox Fellowship. The Fellowship will organise pilgrimages to holy places such as our local Monasteries here in Sydney as well as interstate. The Orthodox Fellowship is a means of allowing ordinary young people to experience the faith and spirituality of the Orthodox Christian Church Tradition.
The Orthodox Fellowship is a ministry of the Orthodox Church. We are committed to helping our youth find out more about our Faith in whatever ways are most appropriate for their own circumstances. We hope that you will take this opportunity of joining our Orthodox Fellowship and exploring the Orthodox Faith with us in a friendly, relaxed, safe and fun atmosphere.
We welcome you at 7.30pm every Tuesday night to experience talks and visits from bishops, priests, deacons, theologians, chanters and lay people, from a wide variety of Christian backgrounds. We have also been able to organise a number of events to which Fellowship members and friends have been invited. These have included English Liturgies led by our own Parish Priest and our very own bilingual youth choir, Bible study evenings, Talks on a range of related topics and social activity days/nights.
Through the coming year we hope to organise many such similar events, and also develop the Orthodox Fellowship in association with the broader Church community.
How can you Help?
All that we ask of a member is that they pray for the work of the Orthodox Fellowship, for all of the other members, and for a growth in the understanding and experience of the Orthodox Faith in Australia.
We hope that you will want to take up some of the opportunities the Saint Nicholas
Orthodox Fellowship provides in order to experience Orthodox Christianity, but
we do not demand it. We appreciate that each of us have different circumstances,
and are on a unique spiritual pilgrimage.
